With almost half  of the country covered with wood  a continuous supply of wood is guaranteed.  Due to the controlled wood cutting and planting of new trees the forests are managed in a good way.

The advantage of using charcoal  is that the energy density is increased compared to wood. Besides the transport of charcoal is much easier than wood. And the firing of  charcoal in a electricity production plant is not restricted and can be controlled in the same way as coal.
